Miss Mischief

Ever since Shelby has discovered she can actually crawl and pull herself up onto just about anything she wants, she has been getting into a LOT of mischief. 30 seconds is too long to have her out of my sight now, no joke! I could be playing with her in her bedroom and she could be completely enthralled with her toys and books and still make it to the bathroom and unroll the toilet paper by the time I get back from the kitchen from getting a drink. Here's proof!

"It wasn't me mom...honest!"

In our living/dining room area we have a shelf that we keep a lot of food storage on; which is a perfect climbing spot and is tons of fun when it comes to pulling things off the shelf. We have since moved things around so that anything that is fortunate enough to come into the grasp of little Shelby's fingers won't break if it hits the ground.

Oh so fun!

Standing has since become one of Shelby's favorite past-times. Anything she can gets her hands on becomes a post to help her steady herself as she stands. It could be a chair, our hands, the couch, a cupboard, our legs and if we're sitting on the floor with her our heads have been known to become a stability post. Unfortunately for me I usually end up losing a handful of hair when she uses my head for stability.

"Look ma...no hands...almost."

Ahhh laundry baskets...full or empty she loves them. She loves to use them for standing, loves to tip them over when empty and when full. She loves to go for rides up and down the hallway as well. I'm not quite sure what she was attempting in this picture below but whatever it was she did a good job at it. Haha!

She has also decided that it's more fun to go over things instead of around things. Anything that she can climb over gets it!

And last but not least we've tried giving Shelby her own spoon when we feed her. We're hoping that it gives her a sense of freedom when she feeds herself. Well, it's not always the cleanest situation when we do this but at least it's fun!

I couldn't resist posting this cute pic. This is what I find every time I go into her room after she wakes up from her nap. I find her face pressed up against the crib and she "grunts" and "ba ba ba"'s towards the door. I'm sure it's so I can hear her; she's a smart cookie she is!

3 firsts...and an itchy bum

We were able to go down to my parents again for this 4th of July. Actually we celebrated it on the 7th because everyone worked on the 4th. It was a lot more fun that way cause the entire family, and then some, were able to come down to "the beach" for a good 'ol time. Shelby had a day of firsts. It was her first 4th of July, she had her first golf-cart ride and her first four-wheeler ride. Woohoo!!!

Shelby has been getting into EVERYTHING now that she can crawl and pull herself up onto things. That's a whole other post on it's own but I just had to share this hilarious video I caught of her scratching her little bum. She was standing up by the tv watching the news when all of a sudden I caught a glimpse of her hand smack her bum. I laughed so hard wondering what the heck she was doing!! I kept watching, camera ready, to see if she'd do it again. Sure enough she did, but this time, and every time after, she scratched it. She must have had an itchy bum or something cause she sure did it a lot. Too funny not to get on video. Can anyone say first-date material? :-)

Auntie Kaeli came for a visit

My little sister Kaeli decided she wanted to come up and spend some time with us after school was out for summer. She came up last Saturday and she spent the entire week here! 8 days and 7 nights. That was the first time she had been away from home (from mom and dad) so we weren't sure how it was gonna go, but it was a total success! She wants to come back so that's a good thing!

Best of friends

We had a ton of fun while she was here. We went swimming, played tennis, went putt-putt golfing, got ice-cream, went shopping, played at the park, watched movies and just had an all around good time. Get ready for a possible picture overload because we documented pretty much everything!

Swimming...perhaps Kaeli's favorite past-time. Thank goodness we have a massive indoor heated pool where we live.

So this isn't a pool but it's just as fun!!

We went putt putt golfing at The Family Fun Center in Tukwila. You could spend forever there; there's so much to do! It was a beautiful morning out. It was 75 degrees at 11 o'clock when we went so of course we needed to lube Shelby up with some sunscreen...as you can tell by the following pictures we got a bit more than we bargained for. It was a new bottle so it didn't take much squeezing to get a little bit out...needless to say Ryan misunderstood the power of his squeeze and we got a LOT out. Haha!! Shelby was a trooper.

Kaeli had a grand ole time and even did some posing for the camera.

Shelby and Kaeli became the best of friends during the week.

They watched movies...

...and The Price Is Right.

And watched another movie.

Shelby sure loves her auntie.

She just couldn't get enough!

Shelby sure loves her Auntie Kaeli and just couldn't get enough of her. She was always following her around and wanted to play with her whenever she was sitting on the floor. What can I say; she just loves her Auntie...perhaps a little too much??

Maybe this is showing too much affection for your Auntie...ya think? 

Shelby was always good about waking Kaeli up in the mornings. They would play and watch The Price Is Right almost every morning while eating some breakfast. It was so fun having Shelby sneak in bed with Kaeli in the mornings. So cute!

We got to go to the park a few times and play on the slides and monkey bars...well Kaeli did. But Shelby got to go down the slide for the first time! She actually loved it! Smiles the whole time!

As we were heading back to the apartment after an afternoon at the playground we stopped at one of the outdoor pools so Kaeli could see what they look like. She noticed a pinecone "in distress" in the kiddie pool and decided it needed rescued. I told her that her pants would get wet even if she rolled them up...but she went in anyways.

Kaeli also loves to help Shelby eat her dinner and is a champ at making Shelby laugh and smile while eating. Sometimes it made dinner-time a little longer than it usually is, but it was fun none-the-less.

Kaeli is known for some of the hilarious things she says and words she makes up. Well we have 2 bathrooms here and we gave Kaeli the guest bathroom all to herself while she was here. However, she couldn't use the toilet the first couple of days because maintenance had to come fix it, so she used our bathroom. The day maintenance came and fixed the toilet was great cause we had been trying to get them over here for almost 2 weeks! Kaeli went to use the restroom and I told her she could use her bathroom since the toilet was fixed. Without skipping a beat she said "Nah, I think I'll just use your bathroom. It's more....deluxe." Hahaha!!! I had no idea we had a "deluxe" bathroom but I'll take what I can get I guess! The things she comes up with.

It was a fun time having Kaeli here with us and I'm glad she actually wants to come back. Hope you enjoyed this massive post...it took me 2 days to complete it; whew!
